Update Aug 9, 2020

We have had a minor setback with Sarah. Over the last 36 hours she has been running a fever. We found out last night that she does have an infection in her bloodstream. The infection was caused by a common intestinal bacteria. They did a CT scan of her abdomen last night to check for any areas of bowel that might be leaking. Nothing was leaking and everything looked great!! Such great news!! They’re not sure where the infection is coming from.  She was started on antibiotics to get rid of this infection and are treating her fever as well.

The plan is to continue antibiotics and check a blood sample every day for infection. All surgeries are on hold until this infection is cleared.

Hanging on the walls in her room now are positive thoughts for her to remember and pictures of her cute friends to bring her some cheer.

Thank you for all your positive thoughts and prayers for Sarah. We know that there are so many angels - seen and unseen -  that are helping her right now.  Sarah received a priesthood blessing this morning from her dad and a wonderful hospital security guard.  Please send positive thoughts, pray (and fast if you feel so inclined) that this infection in her bloodstream will clear quickly, that her fever will subside,  that she will feel better and be able to continue with her planned surgeries.

We love each and every one of you following her story and feel so blessed to have so many wonderful people coming  together and combining all our faith for our dear, sweet girl. Thank you just isn’t enough. Sarah went in for a CT scan last night. There was nothing in the scan which is of major concern, so that is good news. Her blood pressure is stable, her kidneys are functioning great, and she was mouthing the words of her favorite country music as her dad played some songs for her. However, there are few things which are still of concern.  She has a fever, cough, rapid breathing, and a rapid heart rate (about 130), which are signs of infection. The doctors don't know the source of the infection, so finding the source and eliminating the infection is their main priority right now. Scans also revealed a blood clot in her right thigh. Her dad will be giving her a priesthood blessing today so that these items of concern can be resolved.

Please continue praying for her, specifically for her infection, fluid in her belly, and blood clot.
