Sarah is told of her injuries
Today was the day Sarah found out about the extent of her injuries.
Both mom and dad were allowed to go to the hospital to be with Sarah to talk to her about her accident and her injuries. They had prepared themselves for this difficult conversation for two weeks now. It turned out to be a very tender and sacred moment. Mom describes Sarah during this experience saying, “She looked like an angel. Her skin was glowing and she had a faint smile on her face the whole time.” Mom described to Sarah the extent of her injuries and made sure she understood what everything meant. Then she said, “Sarah, I know that’s a lot to take in. Do you know your Heavenly Father knows you? Do you know He loves you and has a plan for you?” Sarah nodded. “He has a plan for you. There is going to be time for lots and lots of tears about this loss, but right now we are crying tears of joy because we still have you. You are the same Sarah.” Sarah asked questions about cheer and a few other things as she spoke with them. Mom told her, “Sarah, you are going to live a life of joy and happiness. You know how I know that? Because I know who you are and the type of person you are. This doesn’t change a thing about you.” Throughout the conversation Sarah would close her eyes and mom and dad knew she was soaking in everything they were telling her. She said, “I’m okay. My personality hasn’t changed.” Sarah also felt comfort in remembering a blessing she received a few years ago that told her of the happiness and peace she would have throughout her life.
Sarah is amazing. She did not shed one tear. She understands what happened and is willing to accept this challenge. She is the most courageous and optimistic person. We know that God’s spirit is bringing her peace and comfort during this trying time. She expressed gratitude for her parents and nurses. She said, “I’m so lucky to have you.” Then she wrote on a writing board, “My nurses and everyone have helped me so much. I don’t have to do ANYTHING.” She is ready to fight this battle and rise up in triumph. Sarah is a light to all of us.
Sarah has a very special spirit and there are many angels on both sides of the veil helping her to be strong. She does has a long road of healing, but she's going to thrive and have the ability to share her story and share the gospel!

The hits seem to keep on coming and she seems to just take them with stride and grace. She is so amazing and it's such a testament to what amazing parents she has. I don't know you guys I started following your journey from when I heard about the accident. This journey you have shared with us has strengthened my testimony in God and how much he is always in the details. She is such a special girl and I am sure that she is going to break so many barriers. ReplyDeleteI was able to enjoy a hike Friday with friends. Upon return, I took a ‘fun’ picture of my dirty feet from wearing sandals on the hike. I read the post-and saw the footprints on the tile. Sarah & her parents have taught me humility. I am humbled to have enjoyed a care-free hike with my feet, my dirty feet. I am thankful. I am humbled to have a healthy strong, not perfect body. Next hike will be for Sarah. Your legs & feet will still carry you to stronger, higher ground. Thank you for sharing all you share.
