#5 - More Surgery

Sarah just got out of a 3 hour operation to check on her legs. The muscles in the thighs were not looking good. The doctors needed to remove more dead muscle, but stayed as conservative as possible and kept everything that seemed reasonably viable.

Unfortunately, they had to remove 6-8 inches more of each leg. So now her amputation is mid-thigh. Our prayers are still being answered that she can keep as much of her legs as possible. Keep them coming. We know they are working. They will continue to evaluate her over the next couple of days. If she stays stable tonight and is looking good tomorrow we expect another surgery tomorrow to address her abdomen.  On Monday they will take her back to the OR to evaluate the legs. We are still not in the clear. We are praying that the muscles in her thighs will stay/become healthy so that they will not have to take off any more. Thank you for your continued thoughts and prayers. They are needed and they are felt.

Sarah is a trooper and is so strong. She is incredibly lucid and is communicating with us as well as she can. Her mind is so alert and we have shown her all the videos that have been sent her way. She lights up whenever she hears or sees a friend in pictures or videos.

This tragedy has made all of us consider and evaluate our own lives, and our purpose here on earth. We know Sarah has an incredible mission in this life and her demeanor and attitude at every turn has inspired so many. It's been overwhelming to receive messages from many strangers who have connected with her story and are already gleaning incredible strength from Sarah. Please keep sending your love and spreading her story so she can continue to be a light to so many.
